Serena Williams Queen of Tennis
Serena Williams known as the Queen of tennis. Serena was born on 26th September 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan. She was younger of her 5 sisters. Her elder sister ( named Venus) was also a professional tennis player. Her father was a former sharecropper from Louisiana he was proud to see his two youngest girls succeeding. She was not only a good tennis player but she was also good in acting and fashion. She was appeared in different tv shows named “Venus and Serena For Real”, “My Wife and Kids”, “Street Time” and “The Division”.

She also lent her voice for show “The Simpsons” and Disney’s “Higglytown Heroes”. She has also founded her own clothing that she labelled by the name “Aneres” which has been recommended in Style Magazine and in 2002 People magazine selected her as 1 of its 25 Most fascinating People. Essence magazine also announced her as one of the country’s 50 Most animating African-Americans.
Serena’s Professional life
By 1991, Serena was 46-3 on the junior United States Tennis Association tour, and there she ranked first in under division. She build her career in tennis in year 1995 when she was just 14 years old. In such a young age she won 30 Grand Slam titles and several Olympic gold medals. In just few years she became one of the top ten world ranking tennis player for the first time in 1999 when she won her first Grand Slam victory at the US Open at age 17. It was the first all-American WTA clay court final since Williams defeated her elder sister Venus to win her French Open title in 2002. In 2002 she won the Italian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open. She became the World Number 1 tennis player.
In 2003 Serena won the Australian Open (singles & doubles), NASDAQ Open, French Indoors and Wimbledon then She went for a knee surgery in August 2003, She again started playing in 2004. Her results in 2004 were not as before because of long break due to the injury but by the beginning of 2005 she again won the Australian Open, her first Grand Slam title in 18 months. Serena returned back to her place in 2007 winning the Australian Open even after being at 18 ranked in the World.
She also won the Sony Ericsson Open in 2007 and scored the top 10 position by the end of the year. In 2008 Serena won the US Open. Then she again became World No 1, tennis player. In 2009 She again won the Australian Open. This victory made her the highest earner in the history of Women’s sports. By the Associated Press Serena was named as the Female Athlete in the Year 2009 and also announced as ITF World Champion in Singles and Doubles.

Social Work by Serena Williams
She used to devote her earnings, time and energy to do social work. With the Owl Foundation she helps fund programs for individuals who experience academic failure. She also supports Race for the Homeless, Stop the Violence, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, the Special Olympics, and the Arthur Ashe Foundation.
Serena Williams becomes the 5th woman to achieve such a position in singles after, Steffi Graf , Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova and Margaret Court.
